Galindo Shapes

Raul Galindo is the founder of Galindo Shapes. He grew up in Venezuela and committed to surfing and skateboarding at a very young age. After moving to Austria, he found a way to translate this passion to his new life in the mountains by riding Powder without bindings. His boards are the result of mixing a lifetime of surfing and skateboarding experience with the drive to explore and find unriden spots, away from ski resorts, big machines and crowds.

Since 2016, Raul has been working towards the goal to handcraft beautiful, lightweight and strong powder surfboards that surpass mass produced carbon fiber and fiberglass products in feel, performance and aesthetics. The boards are heavily inspired by traditional surfboard design, leveraging on concepts that have been proven for many decades in the water. From early days on, he has tried several different approaches to construction, outlines and contours. Through this exercise, he gained a clear idea of how he wants his boards to feel like, and how to achieve that surfy, loose yet controlled ride. Raul takes great pride in building each board by hand in his little Wood shop in Wolfsberg, Austria, using the highest quality materials. They do take a bit long to build, though they last far longer.
